Luxury Homes in the Tucson area is synonymous with the Catalina Foothills. The spectacular Santa Catalina Mountains are both the highest and steepest mountains of the four primary ranges that surround the Tucson Valley. Like a beacon to Tucson city dwellers, the Catalinas are visible from almost all points in the Valley and form our Northern boundary.
While most of the North luxury subdivisions reside in the famed School District 16, Northeast Tucson also has its share of homes and golf courses. The well established, "old money" country clubs of Ventana, Tucson and Skyline in the North were later joined by Arizona National and Forty Niner Country Club in the Northeast and La Paloma in North Central Tucson.
The growth of Oro Valley in the Northwest ushered in a new wave of opulence along breathtaking Pusch Ridge. The well established Omni Tucson National and Oro Valley Country Clubs were later joined by the El Conquistador Golf Resort and its sister property, El Conquistador Pusch Ridge.
While the East portion of Northwest Tucson and Oro Valley boast of more luxury neighborhoods then the Catalina Foothills, none of these homes and subdivisions could approach the ultra-luxury properties in the Catalina Foothills...until now. Located West of Oro Valley, Marana has long been an agricultural region. Dove Mountain and the famed Gallery Golf Club brought a new region of wealth and affluence, eventually attracting one of the PGA's top tournaments, the Accenture Match Play Championship. The Foothills opulence may have met its match with the advent of Saguaro Ranch, an exclusive subdivision accessed by a tunnel through the Tortolita Mountains. Dove Mountain has also received the ultimate recognition as a home and playground of the wealthy with the announcement of the soon to be built new Ritz Carlton Hotel and Golf Club.
There are many famous homes and Historic Districts in Central Tucson, for those that prefer to be closer to the action. Central Tucson contains the city's Cultural Centers and the famed University of Arizona. West Tucson has always had a share of luxury hillside homes, and the development of Starr Pass and the new Marriott Resort by the same name has infused the area with new growth and affluence.
East and Southeast Tucson are not known for their upscale areas except for the ranches and homes on large homesites found along Old Spanish Trail and the Rincon Mountains. If it is acreage, low density population and gated communities you are interested in, Vail is your best value. The long awaited construction of the Passages of Tucson Mall (www.PassagesofTucson.com) will result in explosive growth along with corresponding increases in property values.
We have grouped the luxury home areas below along these same location groups, where you will find searches by price range, with or without swimming pools, and full, detailed search pages devoted to the Master Planned Communities of Rancho Del Lago, Rancho Vistoso and Rita Ranch.
